About

Lucid Dreamer and author exploring why we think and the structure of life. I write about our personal battle between love and fear, and how our decisions build the world.

Since childhood one question haunted my thoughts. Why do people think? I studied pre-med, nerves, the brain, and obviously why we think. Turns out, something else is the source of thought.

Awake in a lucid dream, I yelled, "What is the meaning of life?" Everyone looked at me without answer, unfolding my dual life. A career in engineering leadership at media and tech companies large and small, and all I could think about was the structure of life. Why do we live? How?

I'll write a book, the Book of Life. One day at Barnes and Noble I found the Book of Life on a shelf. J. Krishnamurti already wrote it. Page after page, these are my thoughts...

Alex Sapenuk deep in thought on a mountain vortex

A growl of fear and a breath of love, the two roots of thought.

I kept writing, elaborate scenes filled notebooks on life and dreams. My debut novel, Dream Swim found its way on the page embellishing upon my personal journey in search of why we think. What if dreams aren’t a figment of imagination? What if thought wasn’t confined to your brain? What if dreams spill into the waking world? How does thought build our physical world?
